WONDER PETS OF CAMUL

Updated: Jul 21, 2019

This recent exposure, we were notified that the mass vaccination pushed through but it is still not enough and so instead we focused on establishing the registration system and we did that through Distribution of Animal Health Care Booklet for the owners whose pets were vaccinated, placing collars on vaccinated dogs with a specific color to determine which Barangay the dog belonged, and along with the collar we placed a tag in which a code was written that is the same with the registration number of the dog. On how we accomplished it we first met with the staff of the Municipal Agriculture Office and made an agreement on how we conduct the registration of the dogs. The next step was to make the Booklets, we spent about 2 days printing the booklets. And then the next hurdle was the collars. I had some assistance from the community women's organization in which we used apple green cord thread and then braided it to strengthen it. last step was obtaining the tags which was made of thrown plastic bottle caps. We made sure that the code written on the cap would reflect the registration number of the pet on the owners booklet. During the distribution, We were guided by the Councilor, Committee chairman of Agriculture, and we went for the houses of the owners whose pets were vaccinated. We distributed it to the owners but a lot of them were out in the field so we only gave it to about 30 people. As for the draft of the ordinance. Councilor Villalas the Chairman for the committee on Agriculture made the draft and is still pending as we were still consulting and holding dialogues with experts and other stakeholders. We made a short lecture during the monthly Family Development Session as I talked about rabies, on what is it, how to acquire it and how to prevent it. and at the end I held an open forum to answer some questions.
