Environmental problems such as, climate change and pollution have now been part of our daily lives. Every single day, the planet faces assault from all directions around the world. But despite the world facing its greatest endeavor, the humans, same species fight for it as well. Despite most of the people continuously fail our mother earth still, a great population would lend their hands in contributing to the solution.
Every single person can contribute for the well being of our environment because in return we will benefit from it. And here in the small community in Camul, we believe that even the smallest things can help save our environment.
For our 4th exposure this June-July 2019, we focused our efforts in tapping different sectors that would be able to help us in our future projects in Camul. We asked for support and ideas that would help us in providing solution to the different environmental problems that our community is facing. One problem that our community is facing is on solid waste management. Since our very first exposure, this has been a big problem in Camul. A lot would throw their garbage anywhere like in the rivers and along the roads, most would burn them and some would leave them in MRF's without segregating.
For this exposure, we decided to place signage in MRF's and with the help of the locals, segregate them in order for the trash to be collected by the municipal office. We scheduled a collection of garbage with the Municipal engineer's office.

Also, while we were away, the SK spearheaded a clean-up activity focusing along the highway and the rivers. They also placed signs that prohibits people from throwing their trash in different places.

Since the outbreak of dengue in the region, we also presented a health teaching to the participants of FDS that discusses the importance of clean environment to our health.

We also determined the up stream, midstream and down stream of the 3 rivers in Camul in order for us to know in which areas should be watched over for in order to prevent the pollution of the rivers. This also helped us in determining the presence of population nearby rivers that should protect its rivers.

So far, our program has still a lot to improve, but with what we saw in our exposure wherein a lot of the residents and groups willingly helped, i no time we will see a greener and cleaner Camul. We see hope in the future of Camul and maybe our planet. There's still hope left and it's worth fighting for.
