The Covid-19 pandemic caused heavy losses for the Filipino people in terms of employment, tourism, health, and education among others. This rings true even for ADZU-SOM, wherein the students had to cease school, hospital and even community activities.

Despite the difficulties brought about by the pandemic itself as well as the measures taken in this period of new normal, medicine is truly still our calling. In between responsibilities at home, the works spent on our research papers and in attendance of our classes, we take the time to keep updated with the different contact people in Brgy Camul through messanger, texts and phone calls.

Among the developments we learned through the various exchanges with the people of Camul, the most significant would have to be the renovation and opening of the Barangay Health Station. To improve the functionality of the Barangay health station furnishing and equipping it with the necessary items is still ongoing. We have set ourselves to provide any support that they may need. The other projects we hope to continue despite the miles that separate us are the ones on hypertension, responsible pet ownership, and clean water. Because we could not be there for them physically, we are limited to a more supervisory and advisory support role.

With our knowledge as medical studies, we aim to share ways to integrate the values of social distancing, hand washing and other such staples in this time of new normal. Through our continued communication, we are able to monitor the progresses they have accomplished through their own powers. Through innovation, strategies may be made to overcome the miles between us. With our commitment, students and community people alike continue to find solutions to problems despite this trying times. Though this pandemic has kept us stranded here in Zamboanga, our hearts are with the people of Camul. We will keep our eyes and minds on Camul until our watch has ended.
