BARANGAY CAMUL GENERAL ASSEMBLY

We held a general assembly to discuss ,with the people of Barangay Camul, the progress made on the various problems identified in the community. For our hypertension program, Bantay Altapresyon Program or BAP (Bap baby), we discussed the progress in the case finding activity done followed by the hypertension day with the MHO, Dr. Ladeza. We also discussed possible plans that mainly involves improving lifestyle and medication compliance.

Also in preparation for the implementation of the Municipal-wide smoking ban, we invited members of the PNP to explain various points to the people in attendance. The official launch of the Barangay’s Zumba initiative in collaboration with the SK council was announced. The discussion about the program addressing the problem of poor utilization of maternal and child health care services focused on plans to increase coverage of immunization, and promote use of modern family planning methods. In terms of antenatal health care services, The aim that a pregnant woman will have at least 4 prenatal check-up , will have a facility-based delivery and will have 2 postnatal check ups was given great emphasis. Updates on the progress of the establishment of the barangay health station was done. The Solid waste management initiative ,named Bye Bye Basura (BBB), shared the vision of eventually creating a clean and green Camul. The goal of establishing a proper collection system and the establishment of backyard compost pits and vermiculture practice was shared.

Discussion of plans on the Barangay health station

The vision of a Rabies-free Camul in line with the National goal of a rabies-free Philippines was shared with the people of Camul. Plans to create a system to enforce responsible pet ownership and to decrease the incidence of rabies were discussed in the assembly. Updates on the project on unsafe drinking water or the Tubig na Limpyo sa Camul (TLC) revolves mainly on the identification of the main water sources, collection of samples and sending those samples for testing. Certificates were given to specific people during the assembly. The activity ended with the Barangay Captain expressing thanks towards everyone in attendance as well as a pledge to work towards solving the problems existing in the community.
